2012 Spring Rec Season to Begin
The Spring 2012 season will begin the week of February 13, 2012. We will have an 8-game Spring season. Practices
will start next week for most rec teams, and practice schedules will be posted on this website. Game Schedules will be posted soon. Teams are the same is during Fall 2011.
Spring Registration Deadline is January 22, 2012. This is for new players only –anyone who played SSA soccer last fall is automatically registered for the spring season. Registration forms are available on this website.

SSA's Bulldogs Win First Event as Select Team
The Starkville Soccer Association’s Under-15 Bulldogs boys team celebrated their recent move up to Division 1 (Select) soccer in fine style by winning their age division at the Memphis SuperClubs fall tournament recently.
The win was particularly impressive considering that their bracket consisted of a mix of both U-015 and U-16 teams, and the U-15 Starkville players had to beat two consecutive U-16 sides on their way to the tournament championship.
The first day of play the Bulldogs met two U-15 Select teams from Arkansas: 1) Beat Arkansas Rush, Conway AR (3-2) 2)Lost to Westside Capitals from Little Rock (3-2)
Day two of play the Bulldogs met two U-16 Select teams: 1) Beat Arkansas Rush, Conway AR (2-1) 2) Beat Munford United, TN (6-2)
Representing SSA Bulldogs in Memphis were: Michael Bennett, Timothy Benton, Coleman Bergstrojm, Arman Borazjani, D’Antae Bush, Connor Dunne, Caleb Gwaltney, Luke Josey, Christian Kinger, Daniel Luck, Aaron Meek, Alex Ross, Juan Salazar, Michael Sullivan, Alan Vasquez and Cameron Whittle.
Coached by: Head-Coach Merrill Bush, Asst Coaches Erik Mylroie and Aaron Smyser
Next on the schedule will be League play in Jackson MS (10-1/2) and Kicks Invitation, Huntsville, AL (10/15-16/11)

U-12 Boys Challenge:
Now that the Rec. season has begun, I wanted to invite all of those interested in playing Division II ( "Challenge" ) soccer to come to our first practice.
The initial practice and information session will be Monday, October 10th ( Columbus Day ) at 5:30 pm. We will meet in the area / sidewalk behind the concession stand & then locate an available field. This is open to ALL interested U 12 boys. Also I will be there to answer all questions about it. We will go over what is involved with the Challenge season, and you will get an idea what the training / practice sessions will be like.
We will continue to have practice sessions every Monday night .
If you are interested, but unable to make the first practice session please contact me by email : ecspivey71@yahoo.com .
Don't forget to bring water, a ball ( if you have one), and all standard soccer equipment. We will have a short training session for the players and should be done by 7:00.

Starkville Hurricanes win Magnolia Cup in U10 Girls Gold Division

SSA Hurricanes, Starkville's U10 D2 Girls sponsored and coached by William Wells and assisted by Matt Ross, brought home the gold from the 31st Annual Magnolia Cup 2011, on February 20th in Clinton, Mississippi. In the Gold Division of the tournament, Starkville defeated the Cannon Strikers 2-1 and the SYMCO Red Hots 5-0 on Saturday. On Sunday, the Hurricanes defeated CSA by a score of 4-1. All of these great wins advanced the Hurricanes to the Championship Game where they ultimately defeated North West Rankin Black in a 4-2 decision. It was a great program win for our girls. Girls also on the Hurricanes team but not participating in this particular tournament are Rachel Adair, Ashlynn McGehee, Lake Little, Reagan Ruff, Leila Arabi, and Ellen Carson. This win was definitely the result of a total team effort!
